Diagnosis of recurring basement moisture despite repeated waterproofing repairs. Probes revealed a combination of pressurised water and faulty drainage.
The owner of a commercial building in Ostrava was dealing with recurring basement moisture that persisted even after repeated waterproofing repairs.
Investigation
- Documentation review and historical study
- Probes into the perimeter wall at varying heights
- Moisture readings of building materials
- Drainage check around the building
Conclusion
The waterproofing itself was not at fault — pressurised water from a non-functional drainage system was the real cause. The drainage pipes were clogged, and in some sections missing entirely. I recommended a complete drainage system rebuild, not yet another waterproofing repair. After the rebuild, the moisture stopped recurring.
